In modern functional systems such as economic, political, but also private systems, in which people move in the 21st century they should act as reflectively, quickly and effectively as possible.
The contemporary body is subject to a specific time regime of acceleration: restless, dissected and hyperactive. Hypothetic Bodies breaks with this doctrine and explores the state of contemplation as an active gesture of questioning. Thereby the video performance investigates bodies, sound and materialities that meet in a vacuum between action and stasis. In this extreme state, these bodies develop their own distorted rhythm, togetherness and temporality which always contain a notion of potentiality.

What can we do collectively that we cannot do alone? How can we organize and recognise each other despite different experiences and positioning? How can we transform our relationships and our being together towards social justice?

Spaces of Weaved Relations is a video essay that artistically explores, how we can relate to each other and why this is political.

Words become images and images become words: Inspired by feminist, pedagogical and activist contexts a space of protest banners and textiles is woven together with speculations.

The project started during a 2-week residency at Kunstverein Hildesheim in September 2021 between Christina Harles and Svenja Simone Schulte.
